Background of the study
Peer review is an essential process in academic research, ensuring the quality, validity, and originality of scholarly work before publication. At the Federal University of Technology, Minna, the peer review process has typically been manual, involving physical submissions and time-consuming coordination between researchers and reviewers (Ogunleye & Usman, 2023). This traditional approach can result in delays, inefficiencies, and a lack of transparency in the review process. Moreover, the growing number of research projects and academic publications makes it increasingly difficult to manage peer review effectively through conventional methods.
An online peer review system offers a solution by allowing researchers to submit their work digitally, facilitating quicker and more transparent feedback from peer reviewers (Olayemi & Abdulsalami, 2023). The system will streamline the review process, reduce delays, and provide a platform for researchers to track the progress of their submissions. This study seeks to design and implement an online peer review system to improve the efficiency and transparency of academic research at the Federal University of Technology, Minna.

The manual peer review process at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, is inefficient, prone to delays, and lacks transparency. This study aims to design and implement an online peer review system to address these issues and enhance the quality and timeliness of academic research reviews.
